As a mother, I believe in the power of storytelling and learning from others life experiences. That’s why I’m so excited to have partnered with Carol Muleta of The Parenting 411 and 14 other wonderful parent co-authors to write an enlightening and empowering new book called, The Parenting Odyssey Anthology: Trials, Treasures, and Triumphs of Parenting in a Pandemic.
It launched this week and has been a huge success. Thursday morning we awoke to the news that we were on Amazon’s #1 Best Selling List in the Family & Personal Growth Category. It was like Christmas came early.
The category of Family & Personal Growth was particularly special for me because those are two of my favorite things to read and learn about. 💜
This book features heartfelt testimonies from parents around the world recounting the trials, transitions, and revelations they encountered as their families and communities contended with the emergence of COVID-19. On December 1 and 2 we hosted a virtual book launch where we each had the opportunity to share a little bit about our chapters and experiences in the pandemic.
My chapter is titled, “Conscious Conversations With Children About Race & Discrimination”. In this chapter I share about the hard conversations my husband and I were forced to have with our children during the social justice uprising after the death of George Floyd. They were tough talks to have with young children, yet these necessary conversations awakened the memories of so many experiences we each had and never shared.
The Parenting Odyssey will encourage, inspire, and embolden readers just like you to reflect on their journey, take pride in the strength and resourcefulness they activated in this crisis, and summon the will to conquer any future threats to their families’ way of life.
